Khalidiya is still very open and residential for being so close to the Corniche with easy access to great amenities. The jewel in the crown is Khalidiya Mall with its cinemas and shops, Spinneys (both food and alcohol) is very popular as is the Abela Superstore and Choithram. Marina Mall (on the Corniche) is very close as is Mushrif Mall (in Mushrif) and al Wahda Mall (in Downtown).
Khalidya Park is great for kids or a family picnic. The Corniche and its beaches are within walking distance as is Emirates Palace and Al Bateen Marina (with with its sports club and restaurant). The Intercontinental (with its own tennis courts and a marina) and Sheraton Khalidiya are the two hotels of note in the area, and the Hilton Abu Dhabi and Emirates Palace are close by on the Corniche.
Local Secret: The Marina at Al Bateen houses a very strange mix of restaurants (including a great Italian, a Chinese and a Lebanese) all set by a pool and the ocean.
