Your “home country” Will does not cover your Abu Dhabi property. Abu Dhabi property was specifically excluded by Federal Decree number 29 and 30 of 2020 from the new laws on recognition of “foreign” wills. So how can you stop UAE law applying to the inheritance of your UAE home?
The answer is simple, get your “home country” Will registered by the Abu Dhabi Courts.
In 2018, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) introduced the Non-Muslim Wills Registration office that gives legal certainty for the inheritance of your assets.
Wills registration service is now available online in ADJD website, using a verified UAE pass to access the service for AED950 per Will. Once a Will is registered, an electronic version of it could be downloaded by the client. UAE Pass enable users to sign documents remotely at the same time ensures security, confidentiality and authenticity.
This service by the ADJD is a vital step to honour your wishes should an untimely incident were to happen making sure that your loved ones’ well-being are protected.
